The beginnings of Alpenglow
Winter 2019/2020 should have been the best year yet for our Alpine chalet business @freshtracksski
As owners of a relatively new business there is always something to worry about however we like many others were blindsided by covid 19. A global pandemic that has halted economies worldwide could not fail to have an impact on our small family run company that was still young. The travel and hospitality sectors have been hard hit everywhere and from March onwards we have needed to press pause on providing holidays. While we are raring to be back in the mountains looking after our lovely guests we have had a busy time working on some other projects.
Meanwhile we thought it would be a nice idea to bring together a collection of items that we use in the chalets and that we think add a little extra joy to day to day life. We hope that this provides some accessible treats that can be enjoyed every day and not just saved for holiday periods. We hope that Alpenglow can run along side Fresh Tracks and together we can bring you a little piece of our world.
And so it begins……
A while back we wanted to source a lovely fragrant candle that was natural and safe and that we could use in our chalets throughout the winter. Trying to source a product that fit these criteria, had decent environmental credentials and hit a price point that was sensible seemed impossible. The solution was we began pouring our own.
Why Alpenglow?
We had to keep a connection to the mountains that we were missing ! Alpenglow is a loosely defined changing of light in the mountains usually associated with sun rise or sunset and a beautiful colour. It keeps a link to our beloved outdoors and is a powerful reminder that nature is continually changing ( a comforting thought in our current times). It is also a very apt name for a candle made by lovers of the hills and fragrances inspired by the natural world. We like it and we hope that you will too! The clean burn and natural colour of soy wax makes for our very own Alpenglow.
